Hey people!!! We still need help to fill these few dates! WE - STILL - NEED - HELP! You know, the help word, punx helping punx... If you book us a show, we`ll clean your toilet... Yeah, I know, we don`t have facebook/myspace profile, we`re not from USA, we`re not some famous DIY popular band, there are lots of things that we are not... But I know one thing we are for sure, we are HARDCORE!!! So, we could really use some help from the european hardcore punx... Thanx!
The Snake

Ali, ono, nećemo plakati za fejs/spejs punk ekipom koja nas bude odbijala jer jel, nemamo dotične profile i tako dalje...

We`re Dead! We`re Dead! We`re Dead Fuckin` Nation!!!

http://old-fast-and-loud.blogspot.com/2010/07/dead-nation-face-nationcenk-eppainless.html

http://old-fast-and-loud.blogspot.com/2010/04/dead-nation.html

Except the Dead Nation stuff on old-fast-and-loud blog you can find lots of more cool hardcore stuff, so check it out!!!

Yeah, I know what you gonna say, that you like Tear It Up better, well I also do like Tear It Up a lot but Dead Nation will always have a special place in my hardcore heart, haha! Or look at it this way, if it weren`t for Dead Nation, there wouldn`t be Tear It Up! One more thing, I have done a cool interviews with Dead Dave (Dead Nation, Tear It Up, Splitting Headache, The Good book...) and Andy Up! (3 Against 1, A New Enemy, Tear It Up, Forward To Death, Splitting Headache, Staring Problem...) for IOSC # 12 zine that should be out in the fall. In the interviews I mostly focused on Dead Nation and Tear It Up questions so all of you know what to do when the zine will be out! Enjoy!

What the fuck happened to hardcore!?!

Yes, indeed... To prevent myself from going nuts because of the dates that we`re still missing to complete the Junk Messiah tour, I had to find myself a new hobbie! No, that`s not the right way to put it, actually I`ve become a BLOGGER!!! Wow! First I thought, hmmm, how do you became one (the muthafuckin` blogger!?!) and I was in dillema. I wondered, do you have to pass some secret ceremony or some initiation? Do you have to sell your hardcore punk soul to cybergod? What!?! And then I realized! You just have to write some gibberish and put some stupid photos on the blog and there you have it, you`re now a blogger! Hurray!!! But let`s get to some serious talk! What the hell happened to hardcore!?! What the fuck happened to zines? Whatta fuck is happening with this world!?! Yeah, I know that lots of people who knows me (or think they know me or don`t know me but they have read my zine) probably think of me as some hardcore soldier and they think that I probably have some hardcore altar at home where I pray to my hardcore idols and that I`m some weird dude because, look at me, I`m 32 and I`m writing you here about the hardcore! Whatta fuck!?! They also think that I should probably be thinking about some other serious stuff or about some other fun stuff. Like, where we`re gonna go out on the weekend and what crappy festivals we have to visit and pretend we`re having so much fun watching fucked up lame bands that have guts to still call themselvees hardcore or punk... That`s like the fun stuff. The serious stuff is probably something like, I should be thinking about maybe better, well paid job and probably about some flat or I don`t know, I should probably blend in like all the rest and then I`ll have just like you, the serious problems in my life and I`ll be an adult just like you and I will finally be able to say: "yay, look at me, I`m an fucked up adult with fucked up adult problems, yippie yay! But, fuck those problems, let`s get drunk on the weekend and pretend that those problems I have to deal with doesn`t even exist! Or I could still be aware of my adult problems and whine about it to everyone I know and I could point fingers in people who don`t want to fall in adult (crap) trap and say that they are hypocrites and it`s so easy for them to live a carelerss life, because you know, look at me, I`m an responsible adult and I have so much responsibility on my back and I`m so fucked up, boo-hooo! But, I`m an adult, I can make it, I will solve all of my problems, but I`m still whining, but hell, I can make it, but can I really make it, what if I can`t make it, blah, blah, blah, blah... Well, instead of all that crap, I still rather choose to think, talk and write about things that are really important to me and one of those things is also hardcore! And when I say hardcore, please don`t think of me like that fanatic hardcore solider that I`ve described before, because when I say hardcore I mean a lot more than just some sort of radical subculture (that should suposed to be contra cultrue, you know the deal...) or I don`t know: "scene". When I say hardcore, I mean about spirit and soul, dedication, being yourself no matter what, doing things your own way but maintaning (self) criticism in your life, refusing to blend in with the rest of the world, enthusiasm, youth spirit (no matter how you`re old), energy, passion, positive mental attitude and there`s even more than this! When I think about the people that were beside me or that were sharing some common attitudes with me and see that they`re gone now... Well, I don`t have a problem with that if all these people are still remembering all the positive stuff they lived through hardcore punk and if these memories still means something to them, well, that`s great! If they`re still have some good feelings attached to them when they remembere the hardcore days (ha ha, this sounds really youth crew and funny :)), but they`re now into something else and hardcore is not anymore the big part of their lives, that`s cool and I can respect that. But, when people totaly forget about all the good stuff before they became "adults" and if those things from the past doesn`t mean anything to them and they don`t care anymore, well, that`s always devastating to see, at least for me. It`s like, some people sort of turn into zombies, they loose passion about everything and are just going through their adult lives like a fuckin` zombies or better said, they become slaves of this materialist world. Their world. Because it`s definitely not my world. So, when I say hardcore, I mean about the world where you still care about all the good and positive things that you`ve done in the past and that you`re still doing and also the good things you`ll keep on doing in the future. That`s hardcore to me. So, what the fuck happened to hardcore!?! Well, it seems to me that with my hardcore everything is still cool, it`s just that I sometimes feel lonely seeing that other people don`t share my passion about hardcore (like they used to). So, what`s happened to their hardcore, I`m not sure and also no one said that hardcore should suposted to be all sugar and spice, sometimes hardcore is hard shit to deal with it. But I don`t want to just complain. I`d rather look on positive sides of hardcore and those are all of the people that didn`t loose their hardcore spirit and are still doing lots of DIY positive activities! Hats off to them. And about what the hell happened to zines, maybe I`ll discuss that some next time. So, until then, keep your hardcore alive and stay true to your school, haha!
I am... The Snake

And now, it`s random photo fun time!!! To prevent myself from becoming too serious about this hardcore
mumbo jumbo ramblings I will go through some photos that I found on my dusty discs and that will not end in Vaseline Children tribute zine because for that project I`m actually saving the good photos, haha! Here we go!

Photo # 1

This photo is taken on 20th August of 2007. while we were hanging out in Tomas place in Bratislava, Slovakia. Yeah, that`s when we (xVCx) were on that legendary "Never Gonna Shut Up!" tour with Mladina Kina, like you didn`t already guessed that. On the photo you can see from left to right: Micho, Kupa, Kiki and Gajo. This photo is saying "gay" all the way! Don`t get me wrong, it`s not that I have anything against soft love coming from another man, no problem with that at all. But, knowing how both Vaseline Children and Mladina Kina members were mucho thugs (or they pretended to be at least :)) it`s funny to see them looking so gay on this photo.

Photo # 2

Wow! This photo is Bizarro! If you`ve been reading my previous posts and you`re not familiar with the Mladina Kina, let me explain just a bit. Mladina Kina was a brother band of Vaseline Children. When we started to hang out and to play more often with Mladina Kina guys, we became really tight with them, on emotional level and on a hardcore level :). And except that they were like brothers to us and great friends, Mladina Kina was one of the best hardcore bands ever! I still miss their furious and passionate live shows and trust me, these guys didn`t take no bullshit from anyone, they were fuckin` hardcore all the way! But, let`s get back to this photo which is taken on 05th May of 2007. in legendary "Kino" which was great DIY place in Dravograd, Slovenia where bunch of great hc/punk gigs and friendships happened. We were having a xVCx/MK bonding after we both played that night in "MC" in Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia along with Final Approach and Screwed Up. This was one of best xVCx gigs ever and not just that, it was one of best hc/punk gigs ever for all of us, it was just magical and we were all feeling reborn after this gig :). Anyway, on the photo, from left to right, are: Klemen (MK guitarist), Mičo (MK drummer), Žbla (xVCx guitarist (below Cane)), Cane (xVCx singer), Kupa (MK singer), Kiki (xVCx bassist (below Kupa)), Gajo (xVCx drummer) and Tada (MK bassist). On this photo you can see that love was in the air and we were preparing for some physical bonding later in Mičo`s flat. And no, we weren`t on any drugs, for christ sake, xVCx were sXe and so was Tada (if you can believe that :))! And what`s the deal with even 3 Screwed Up t-shirts!?! Just for the record, Mladina Kina and Vaseline Children played together 22 gigs and one xVCx karaoke show, fuckin` a!

Photo # 3

This photo is just priceless!!! It`s taken on 26th November of 2006. and on the photo are, left to right: Nikxxx (The Truth Of XXX bassist), Žbla, Felix (The Truth Of XXX singer) and Gajo. On the photo we`re standing in front of the entrance of main train station in Zagreb, Croatia. The day before xVCx and XXX played great gig in Rijeka. The show in Zagreb that was suposed to happen the day before Rijeka was unfortunately canceled, but nevertheless, we had some of the best times during this weekend. This was taken just before The Truth guys were getting on the train to go home. When I look at this photo, I think of three things. Friendship, Straight Edge and Serbian-Croatian hardcore brotherhood, haha! Time we`ll remember!!!

Photo # 4

Well, this one brings out some good old jolly memories indeed! This was taken on 27th August of 2004. when I played with Fx Px Ox (from Skopje, Macedonia) Croatian tour in August 2004. If you`re not familiar with Fx Px Ox , you have been sleeping under a rock this past decade because Fx Px Ox was one of best hardcore bands from Balkan and beyond. This photo is taken before the gig in Našice, Croatia, in front of some crucified dude. On the photo are, from left to right: Radexxx (Fx Px Ox bassist), Vasko obssesed (Fx Px Ox singer), xTripex (Fx Px Ox guitarist), Fistra (he was organizer of this tour and also our driver and singer of bands: Verbalni Delikt, AK 47 and Ljubiša Samarđić and also he`s the godfather of Croatian punk :)) and last but not least, yours truly Gajo aka The Snake (Fx Px Ox drummer at the time). When I look at this photo, I think of 80`s Brazilian speed metal or crossover bands. I mean, if I didn`t tell you the facts about this photo, you would probably think that too. Well, we all listened Sepultura and Ratos De Porao at some point of our lives, so you don`t have to feel strange if you think of Brazilian metal bands while looking at this photo. This photo is metal and hardcore all in one! By the way, this Croatian 2004. Fx Px Ox tour (aka "Junk Cola Tour") was great and I`m greatfull that I could be part of this great hardcore band, at least for this one tour.

Photo # 5

Hahaha, more Bizzaro shit! This photo is taken on 06th May of 2006. on first Vaseline Children gig in "Leglo", Novo Mesto, Slovenia while goofing around with guys from Dickless Tracy. On the photo are, left to right: Tegla (Dickless Tracy drummer), Gajo, Žbla, Cane, Bassko (Dickless Tracy bassist), Cepo (Dickless Tracy guitarist and singer at the time) and Kiki, down below. This photo is like a unity utopia dream come true because Dickless Tracy is metal/grind band and xVCx was hardcore punk all the way, so it`s a fuckin` metalheads and hardcore punx motherfuckers standing united! And just look at the band shirts, from metal world we got Morbid Angel, from hardcore world we got Black Flag and from punk rock world we got UK Subs, wow! Total unity, as I`ve said before! The gig itself was rather strange...

Photo # 6

Hey, how in hell this photo of Tom Sawyer got in here!?! Beats me. Well, it`s not really Tom Sawyer on the photo, but if I was barefoot, I could be easily mistaken for Tom Sawyer (if he was straight edge :)). This photo is taken on 10th February of 2007. in "Kino", Dravograd, Slovenia. This was sort of "backstage" and I was just preparing myself for another manic Theysuck! gig (where I sang at the time). Beside me, you can see Cane and Žbla`s feet and a electric heater (it was freezing as hell and on top of that I was also sick). This was first ever gig in "Kino" with bunch of bands: Samouprava, Final Approach, Growing Rats, Bojlers, Second Hand Emotions, Mladina Kina, Theysuck! and Vaseline Children (without Kiki though because he wasn`t there and it was sort of non planned xVCx gig and we mostly played covers). It was one crazy and cool show and this show was sort of begining of "Kino" hardcore era (but at the same time it was also last Theysuck! gig ever). There was also a tape released on Kino Records with recordings of some of the bands from this show. There`s one line written on the tape that I will never forget and it goes like this: "This is Kino hardcore and it will always be". And few more things about the photo. You can see the Black Flag bars t-shirt again, working suit (wtf!?!) and the legendary black bandana (but since is hanging by my neck, it`s clear that I`m not getting ready for a xVCx show, just in case if someone tries to pull some score card scam on you, OK?).

That`s it for this random photo fun time. Expect some more goofy photos soon. Til next time, be a good hardcore soldier and don`t forget that it`s all in our hands!!!
